Reduce 1 sec latency between toggle key press and recording start

The recording only starts about one second after the toggle key is pressed and the waveform window shows up. This results in some missed content and makes the whole experience feel slow.

I created an account to say I've persistently experienced this for essentially the entire year I've been using Superwhisper. I'll initiate Superwhisper with my keyboard shortcut, the UI modal pops up, and more than half the time there's a delay of 2-5 seconds before the waveform starts responding to my voice, and when I go back and listen to my recordings I can observe that the beginning of my speech is cut off. I.e., I can start counting from 1 to 5 when the UI modal appears, and when I finish my recording, only numbers 3 through 5 were actually captured. Seems like there should be a better way to indicate something in the background is still loading before voice recording actually is ready.

I have it configured to play the toggle sound. I heard it just now. I also tested repeatedly where I make sure I speak as fast as I possibly can after tapping the keystroke, and it does not seem to miss anything. I wonder what is different between my setup and yours.

Kyle Cordes That's really interesting. I wonder if more people have your experience or mine! I'll also do some additional testing. Appreciate your sharing.

I just did some testing on my end and realize that it may just be the system allowing time for the toggle sound to finish playing before recording starts. That's logical. With sounds off, it reduces the wait time from 1 second to about 0.25 seconds, which is much faster. Just want to call this out in case others also face this issue. IMO, totally worth turning off sounds since there is a visual window that pops up for most cases. In the future, perhaps there can be an option to only turn on sounds when the waveform modal is turned off.

Yan Sim Turning off the sound did the trick, this is super helpful, thanks so much.
