I am writing as a long term SuperWhisper user to formally request that a dedicated native iPad application be prioritized on the product roadmap. I rely on an iPad as my primary and only computing device, and I dictate essentially all of my text input one handed using voice. Within that context, SuperWhisper has proven to be the most accurate dictation tool I have evaluated, outperforming Diction, Apple's native dictation, and every other alternative I have tested over the past several weeks.
However, the current iPad experience is constrained by the fact that the app runs as an iPhone application in compatibility mode rather than as a true iPad native product. This has two consequences. First, the interface does not take advantage of the additional screen space the iPad provides. Second, and more significantly, the keyboard extension exhibits reliability issues, dropping out mid dictation without warning. This behavior is consistent with the well documented approximately sixty megabyte memory ceiling that Apple imposes on all iOS keyboard extensions. A dedicated iPad application, engineered with the same level of care that has clearly gone into the Mac application, would give your engineering team the architectural flexibility to manage that memory constraint properly, rather than inheriting limitations designed around a smaller device.
I understand that the team is currently prioritizing an Android beta, and I recognize that decision reflects real user demand. I would ask that a native iPad application be treated as the next major platform priority following that release. The iPad is not a secondary or stretched iPhone for a significant portion of your user base. For many of us, it is our primary computer, and SuperWhisper's underlying quality more than justifies giving it a proper native home there.
